Bernie is a thirty-two-year civil service employee with the Department and currently the supervisory employee development specialist in the Office of Continuity Counseling in the Office of Career Development and Assignments (CDA). This office is responsible for providing career guidance, counseling, and mentoring services to our members of the Foreign Service.
Mrs. Cole Byrd is a recipient of the 2019 Pickering and Rangel Fellows Association (PFRA) Champion of Diversity award. This award recognizes an individual who promotes and develops activities and dialogue that highlight unity and strength in diversity.
Bernie graduated from Bowie State University with a degree in Management and is happily married to Robert J. Byrd, a member of the Foreign Service.
